Jewish Family Services seeks help with seniors

The Jewish Family Service Agency is looking for volunteers who are interested in visiting with the valley's senior citizens.

According to an agency spokesperson, JFS has been flooded with calls for help throughout the valley, but there are not enough volunteers to fulfill all of the requests. Volunteers would visit with homebound elderly and take them shopping, to the bank or medical appointments. For information call 732-0304.

Dr. Steven Sanders, a local orthopedic surgeon, has become the first surgeon in the state to perform a metal-on-hip joint replacement.

The Metasul replacement surgery was performed at Valley Hospital Medical Center on a 54-year-old patient with the systemic arthritis condition known as lupus.
