Cheyenne graduate in Shrine Game

Western Illinois senior linebacker Edgerton Hartwell, a Cheyenne High School graduate, has been selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 13 in Palo Alto, Calif.

Hartwell, who played in the Blue-Gray game on Christmas Day in Montgomery, Ala., was named the 2000 Buck Buchanan Award winner as the top defensive player in I-AA football and will be the first Western Illinois player in the Shrine Game. He was named the Gateway Conference Defensive Player of the Year in each of the past two seasons.

Hartwell finished his WIU career as the school's tackle leader, with 512 stops. He also set the WIU career record for solo tackles with 308 and the school single-season mark for total tackles with 191 this season.
