Eight arrested in Reno heroin bust

The investigation by the Washoe County Consolidated Narcotics Unit began earlier this month.

Authorities said undercover officers made several controlled buys that led to search warrants at two residences, one in Reno and one in Sparks.

At one apartment, detectives said they found six ounces of heroin with an estimated street value of $40,000 and a quarter-pound of cocaine.

Daniel Modesto-Martinez and Enrique Beas-Corchado were arrested on a variety of drug charges and are being held on 140-thousand dollars bail.

Following those arrests, detectives posing as heroin dealers conducted reserve stings, answering pager calls from users seeking the drug.

Six people were arrested.
