The name of the 48-year-old victim has not been released. A second man, Maurice Meka, 38, was in fair condition Wednesday at Washoe Medical Center.
Police said they still don't know what prompted an argument between the two that led to the deadly duel Monday night on Lake Street. No arrests have been made.
The men lived within blocks of each other. Detectives said the fight involved one knife and left a 250-foot blood trail.
