Letter: Election result was foregone conclusion
Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000 | 9:53 a.m.
Truth is, Mr. Robbins, Bush did not admit his DUI -- he owned up to it only after an enterprising reporter uncovered the document.
Bush was accused of cocaine use and refused to discuss it, saying only that he "had made mistakes." Perhaps that's good enough for you?
Eight years of criminality in the Clinton White House, you say, but without specifics. In the preceding 12 years we had the highest increase in our national debt than in all of our previous wars, the highest inflation rate, highest unemployment, the highest interest rate -- mortgage interest at 14-15 percent and the worst economy.
Iran/Contra and Reagan's amnesia, the lies, his father's wimpy retreat in his Desert Storm bid for re-election. My memory is very good.
The result of this election was a foregone conclusion. Many months ago, by fair means or foul, alternative methods were in place to ensure that Bush would be our next president.
Our U.S. Supreme Court, split along partisan lines, anointed him, but he did not win this election -- it was given to him.
