April 9: Hammerin' Hank Breaks Record
Story: Hank Aaron, who took the first step of this near-incredible climb nearly 20 years ago, crossed the final mountaintop last night when he broke Babe Ruth's lifetime record with his 715th home run in the fourth inning of the Atlanta Braves-Los Angeles Dodgers contest.

Story: Patricia Hearst, who 12 days ago renounced her former life and said she had decided to stay with her Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapers, was identified Monday as a participant in a bank robbery, possibly against her will.
Aug. 9: Nixon Quits; Ford Takes Over Today
Story: President Nixon announced last night he would reluctantly resign because of a loss of congressional support, but he attributed his errors in office to an overriding interest in the nation.
Nixon said in a nationwide broadcast that he and his family wanted to stay in the White House throughout a House impeachment vote and Senate trial. He added that the thought of resigning was "abhorrent to every instinct in my body."
Sept. 16: Second Flood Victim Found
Story: A second victim of a disaster at an area resort was recovered late yesterday afternoon 40 feet from shore.
An avalanche of rock and mud swept by water through Nelsons Landing, located in Eldorado Canyon, about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, carrying everything in its path into Lake Mojave. The actual edge of the lake was moved forward about 100 yards.
Sept. 17: No Nixon Deal: Ford
Story: President Ford said yesterday he pardoned Richard M. Nixon to spare the nation another turmoil and division over Watergate, and "there was no understanding, no deal between me and the former president ... none whatsoever."
