Willie Dean Avery
Willie Dean Avery, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Drew, Miss. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired 21 dealer and a World War II and Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Odette; two daughters, Yolanda Avery and Talysha Boone, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Leon Avery of Las Vegas, Steve Terry of Cambridge, Mass., and Issac Wilkins of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Robert Baccellieri
Robert Baccellieri, 48, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 21, 1952, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 12 years, he was a sports director at the Frontier hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara S.; one stepdaughter, Hesper Mathews of Macon, Ga.; his parents, Agnes and Carl Baccellieri, and one brother, Richie Baccellieri, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Joel R. Bass
Joel R. Bass, 41, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1959, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a prison correctional officer.
He is survived by his companion, Irene Sanders of Las Vegas; his mother, Katherine Bass-McCormick of North Las Vegas; one brother, Marvin Bass, two sisters, Joretha Hawkins and Marva Bass, and four stepsisters, Brenda Jones, Glenda Wright, Linda McCormick and Gwen Foy, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Friday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 N. H St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Ardis A. Benton
Ardis A. Benton, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 31, 1927, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Frank B.; four daughters, Barbara Bradford of Mission Viejo, Calif., Nancy Presser and Joanna Parrish, both of Las Vegas, and Janet Benton of Sparks; one son, Frank H. Benton of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Olsen of Albuquerque, N.M., Sharon Carroll of Manderville, La., and Cathy Anderson of Westminster, Colo.; one brother, Charles Howard of Salt Lake City; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Darold Boepple
Darold Boepple, 67, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born May 28, 1933, in Chico, Calif. A resident for eight years, he was a retired aerospace supervisor and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Chari; two daughters, Sharon McMurtrey of Corona, Calif., and Karen Boepple of Lewisville, Texas; two sons, Tom Henning Jr. of West Jordan, Utah, and Scott Dorman of Salt Lake City; his parents, Victor and Rita Boepple of Riverside, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
The family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association, 4625 Wynn Road, Las Vegas.
Peter M. Boyson
Peter M. Boyson, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 27, 1958, in Canada. A resident for eight years, he was an electrician in the construction industry.
He is survived by one daughter, Christina Boyson, and two brothers, John Boyson and Paul Boyson, all of Canada.

Willard Richard Dague, 75, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 13, 1925, in Ohio. A resident for six years, he was an electrician at Lockheed for 28 years.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Irene Dahnke, 45, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Idaho. A resident for 45 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Jan Loupias of Las Vegas; one sister, Lois Cleaveres of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Anthony 'Mike' DiCiero
Anthony "Mike" DiCiero, 72, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio. A resident for four years, he was a retired captain of the Youngstown Fire Department, a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps and Army veteran, a retired member of the Ohio Association of Professional Firefighters and Local 377 in Youngstown.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; three daughters, Ercy Rosen of Las Vegas, Michele Nichols of Arvada, Colo., and Ellie Geidner of Bonita Springs, Fla.; his mother, Ersilia DiCiero of North Lima, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Anderson William Eaves Jr., 73, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Fort Davis, Ala. A resident for one year, he was a retired janitorial supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Lula M.; one daughter, Mary Sanders of Henderson; two sons, John Eaves and Paul Eaves, both of Chicago; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marian F. Edgel, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A resident for 35 years, she was born Nov. 21, 1928, in Murray, Utah.
She is survived by her husband, Max W.; six daughters, Taunya Carter of Las Vegas, Jana Kiffe, Manae Palsgrove, Maya Blazzard and Julie Alger, all of Henderson, and Maurea Williamson of San Bernardino, Calif.; four sons, Warren Edgel, Mark Edgel and Merik Edgel, all of Las Vegas, and Merl Edgel of Cedar City, Utah; two brothers, Gene Ferguson of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Charles Ferguson of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Shirley Matthews of Orem, Utah; 34 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Milton Farrar, 53, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 12, 1947, in Connecticut. A resident for many years, he was a retired pro football player.
He is survived by one brother, Franklin Farrar of Stratford, Conn.

Rose Maere 'Rikki' Kordoes Ferer
Rose Maere "Rikki" Kordoes Ferer, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 5, 1915. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker, a member of Daughters of Penelope and Hadassah.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Frances Ferer.
A memorial service will be Jan. 7 in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be in California.

Wayne Joseph Galligan, 76, of Las Vegas died Dec. 9 in a local hospice. A resident for 10 years, he was born Sept. 24, 1924, in California.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane Galligan and Linda Quinn.

Lena Henry, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a retired government dispatcher.
She is survived by her husband, Ferris; one son, Craig Henry of Las Vegas; two sisters, Elvira Garcia of Las Vegas and Connie Cobb of North Las Vegas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gertrude G. Hertica, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Boston. A resident for eight years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, Mike Hertica of Redondo Beach, Calif., Gary Hertica of Carlsbad, Calif., and Mark Hertica of San Diego; one daughter, Rae Hertica of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Gary Hess, 64, of Pahrump died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born March 5, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. A resident for 21 years, he was a retired state government iron worker, an Air Force veteran, a member of Iron Workers 433 and Master Gardener Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jornine; two stepsons, Larry Jackson of Dublin, Calif., and Jeffrey Jackson of Los Angeles; two sons, Bret Hess of Henderson and Kelly Hess of Las Vegas.

Margaret M. Ishihara, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Kohala, Hawaii. A resident for five years, she was a civil service housekeeper and a member of the Social Seniors.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; one son, Norman Ishii of Washington state; one daughter, Marilyn Ishii-Urner of San Diego; four brothers, William T. Okubo, Takiji Okubo, Takit Okubo and Richard T. Okubo; three sisters, Mildred K. Kawakami, Lillian T. Nakamura and Marion S. Tanahara; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Theo A. 'Dutch' Lyons
Theo A. "Dutch" Lyons, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker and a grand-opening associate with JCPenney stores at the Boulevard and Meadows malls, a member and former chaplain of Falicitas Chapter 500 in the Williamsport, Pa., Order of the Eastern Star, served in the officer corps of Park Chapter 26 becoming worthy matron in 1981 and served as state officer in Nevada Grand Chapter where she was grand ester and grand representative in New Brunswick. She was a member of El Giza Temple 139, Daughters of the Nile and Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was awarded the DeMolay Mother's degree from New-South Chapter Order of DeMolay and St. Omar Priory DeMolay Order of Knighthood, both in Las Vegas.
She is survived by one son, Daniel J. Lyons of Las Vegas; and one brother, Ronald T. Young of Phillipsburg, Pa.

Walter Berton Merkel
Walter Berton Merkel, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 20, 1928, in North Dakota. A resident for 33 years, he was a retired foreman from Nevada Power Co. and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 396.
He is survived by three sons, Jeff Merkel of Puyallup, Wash., Jerry Merkel of Kirkland, Wash., and Timothy Merkel of Rhome, Texas; two daughters, Ada Merkel of Las Vegas and Lorraine of Orting, Wash.; one brother, Lawrence Merkel of Seattle; four sisters, Lucille and Ada, both of Petaluma, Calif., Shirley of Livermore, Calif., and Lavone of Fremont, Calif.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Reiter of Henderson and Mary Ann Kilmer of Ransomville, N.Y.; two sisters, Josephine Bianco and Ida Agnello, both of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Samuel Bonette of Grand Island, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, Raymond Scarlatta; two brothers, Mike Scarlatta of Italy and Frank Scarlatta of Chicago; and one grandchild.

Donald Artz Spangler, 79, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born July 26, 1921, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 38 years, he worked as an administrative aide to the Army Reserve, first sergeant of the Reserve Artillery Search, a member of the Masonic Bodies of the Las Vegas Daylite Lodge, Zelzah Shrine, and created the Begger Character within the Shrine.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; and one sister, Edyth Lindt of Pahrump.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Zelzah Masonic Temple, 2222 W. Mesquite Ave., Las Vegas. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; one son, Wally Wallace of Las Vegas; one daughter, Roni Stewart of Cedar City, Utah; one sister, Bernice Voelz of LeGrand, Ore.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by her companion, David, her father, Lafayette Wood, her mother, Joni Kellough-Polk, two brothers, Shaen Sykes and Johnny Sykes, and two sisters, Stephanie Sykes and Phelisha Sykes, all of Las Vegas.

James W. 'J.B.' Tyree Sr.
James W. "J.B." Tyree Sr., 78, of Louisville, Ky., died Sunday in a Louisville hospice. He was born June 13, 1922, in Madison, Ind. A former Las Vegas resident, he retired after 30 years as executive director of the Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County. He was a retired World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Air Force veteran with 27 years of service and a grand inspector general of the AASR of FM (PHA) 67, Northern Jurisdiction.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma.
He is survived by one son, James Tyree Jr. of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Lytle-Gans-Andrew Funeral Home, is handling arrangements.
