Event planned for children on Sunday
The Mexican Patriotic Committee will hold "Christmas in the Barrio" festivities noon-4 p.m. Sunday at Escobedo's Plaza, 760 N. Eastern Ave.
More than 3,000 children in need are expected to receive their presents, candies and break pinatas. For more information, call 649-1198.

United Blood Services, 6930 W. Charleston Blvd., has scheduled blood drives for next week at these locations:
Tuesday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the New Frontier; 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Galleria at Sunset, 1300 Sunset Road, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lake Mead Hospital, 1409 E. Lake Mead Blvd.
Wednesday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Home Depot, 1401 S. Lamb Blvd.; 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Valley Hospital, 620 Shadow Lane, and noon-5 p.m. at Nevada Beverage, 3940 W. Tropicana Ave.
Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Flamingo Las Vegas.
Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Home Depot, 2200 Serene Ave.; 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Nevada Highway Patrol and Stop DUI, 2601 E. Sahara Ave.; 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Desert Springs Hospital, 2075 E. Flamingo Road and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Galleria at Sunset, 1300 Sunset Road.
Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Galleria at Sunset, 1300 Sunset Road.
