Ball Janick awarded D.C. lobbying contract

Ball Janik LLP was unanimously approved by the Las Vegas City Council Wednesday to provide federal lobbying services for the city.
The firm, based in Portland, Ore., with offices in Washington, D.C., was recommended by city staff from among five finalists.
Victoria Cram, an established urban lobbyist with Ball Janik, told the council her firm is "hands-on" and filled with "creative problem solvers."
Cram said Ball Janik will focus on assisting the city in getting federal funding for transportation, economic development and livability measures. She also said the 107th Congress will likely make money available for infrastructure needs such as sewer and water lines.
Ball Janik representatives will meet with city staff to establish what Cram called "a lobbying blueprint" to share with Nevada's congressional delegation.
Mayor Oscar Goodman said it is crucial for Ball Janik to communicate monthly with the city to let officials know how the city's needs are being met.
