Partners join in recycling effort
That tree may look lovely in your home right now, but it certainly won't spruce up the neighborhood on your curb or in a trash bin after the holidays.
That's why six community partners are joining to recycle Christmas trees.
You can take your tree to UNLV, Sunset Park or Desert Breeze Park from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26 through Dec. 29.
Trees can be taken to the Desert Demonstration Gardens from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26 through Jan. 7, 2001.
The program is a partnership of Clark County Parks and Recreation, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, UNLV, the Nevada Division of Forestry and Vermeer.

Power outages investigated
University Medical Center engineers are investigating the cause of a power outage in parts of the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
The outage occurred about 4:15 p.m. in isolated areas of the hospital, a UMC spokesman said.
No patients were harmed during the outage, and power was restored about 5 p.m.
