Letter: Powell’s speech fails to mention affirmative action
Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000 | 9:51 a.m.
In Gen. Colin Powell's acceptance speech he reaches out to the youth of America, Americans of African descent as well as others, and tells them that there are no limits to their achievements and that with dedication, hard work and determination, they may achieve the heights he has.
Sadly, there was no mention of affirmative action, a program his political party refutes, but which was one of the conduits through which he rose to his present position.
