Letter: GOP writes text on winning

If nothing else, George W. Bush and the Republican Party set the blueprint and prepared a text of "How to Win the Presidency." This is regardless of the competence of the candidate.

First, the cabal, consisting of the hierarchy, pick their man. Second, they begin a massive fund-raising effort and establish a war chest.

Third, they determine who the likely opposition candidates might be and begin a smear campaign to destroy his/her credibility.

Fourth, figure out how to manipulate each state's voting system.

Fifth, dream up some catchword phrase (like "compassionate conservative") that you think might hide the true character of the candidate.
