Spring Mountain Ranch looks for volunteers

The Spring Mountain Ranch State Park Docents are recruiting volunteers to give tours and greet visitors at the state park in Red Rock Canyon.
The classes for docent training will begin 9 a.m. Jan. 13 at the ranch's east wing.
The only requirement is a willingness to participate in training and volunteer at the ranch a minimum of one day a month for three hours. The training lasts 12 weeks of and is once a week for three hours each session.
Classes cover Southern Nevada and Spring Mountain Ranch history, flora and fauna of Southern Nevada, interpretive techniques, geology, Indian lifestyles, desert wildlife, herbatology, desert plants and park operations.
The training is done annually.
