SCORE International officially announced its five-race schedule for the 2001 SCORE Desert Series, starting with the increasingly-popular Laughlin Desert Challenge in January and ending with the legendary Baja 1000 in November.
The SCORE Desert Series, which features 23 Pro and six Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs, will kickoff with the 7th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, Jan. 18-21, in Laughlin.
Three of the events, all mid-to-long-distance endurance desert races, will be held on the Baja California, Mexico, peninsula and two will be multi-lap races in Southern Nevada.
Rounds 2 and 3 both will be held in Mexico.
The 15th Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 is set for March 15-17, followed by the 33rd SCORE Baja 500, June 1-3.
The 6th SCORE Las Vegas Primm 300 will be held Sept. 14-15 in Primm.
"The SCORE Desert Series started the new millennium with a season to remember and we think we have the potential to go one step further in 2001," SCORE CEO Sal Fish said.
"Having the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority continue in its Laughlin and Primm race sponsorship for this year seriously enhances the SCORE position in the motor sports world.
"Final negotiations are also under way for both the national and international television packages for the 2001 SCORE Desert Series."
