Letter: Every voter is responsible
Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 | 10:14 a.m.
I have been a Democrat all my life, so I'm not anti-Al Gore.
But I'm getting older and can't think as quickly and clearly as I once did.
I received my absentee ballot and was confused as to where the receipt was to be torn. Kathy McClain, running for assemblywoman, had sent me a postcard asking for my vote. Since I was confused, I called her and left a message on her machine. She called me back within the hour and solved the problem.
There really is "no stupid question!"
Had I not asked and made a mistake, could I call now and ask for my vote to be recounted? I don't think so!
Each of us is responsible for our own vote. I didn't know that those little holes must be fully opened. From now on I'll be very, very careful!
