Letter: Economy soared under Clinton
Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 | 10:13 a.m.
I wonder where letter writer Robert J. Badovinac has been for the past 10 years. Where on Earth would he get the notion there has been no prosperity in this country in the last eight years?
Before Bill Clinton became president I had taken a pay cut of $2 per hour after working at my job for 25 years. The economy was such a mess -- high inflation and outrageous interest rates, that no one could get a raise, and you had to feel lucky if you weren't downsized out of a job.
In 1995, after Clinton had been in office for three years and the economy bounced up, I got my pay raised over the amount I had lost. Since then we have retired, thanks to the booming economy, and all four of our children own their own homes.
I am sorry things haven't worked out for Badovinac, but if the economy did not pick up for him, he cannot blame Clinton and the Democratic Party.

e for our own vote. I didn't know that those little holes must be fully opened. From now on I'll be very, very careful!
