Incline Village man accused of stalking high school teacher

Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000 | 5:53 a.m.

Juan Manuel Salazar-Alanis, 27, was booked on one charge of stalking and was being held in the Washoe County jail in Reno Thursday in lieu of $1,115 bond.

The Incline Village man started stalking the female teacher after he saw her picture with a local newspaper article called "Face in the Crowd," school police Chief Tamara Evans said.

He allegedly went to her residence and left her a present, then telephoned her at home.

The teacher told him she didn't want any presents and didn't want to go out with him, police said.

But he showed up at the high school with flowers Wednesday morning, and then was seen peering through her classroom window.

School police arrested him later Wednesday at his apartment in Incline Village.

School district officials initially issued a news release including the name of the teacher, but later requested that her name not be made public because she feared for her safety.
