Red Rock passes are part of BLM food drive
Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 | 9:19 a.m.
The Bureau of Land Management officials at Red Rock Canyon are collecting food for the needy and waiving the entrance fee for those who donate.
Through Saturday the BLM will waive the entrance fee for those who donate two cans of nonperishable food. Food collected will be delivered to a local homeless and needy food pantry before Christmas.
The donation effort, the brainchild of BLM Ranger Kate Sorom and Anna Wharton, will benefit the FISH pantry at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Donations are also accepted at the BLM's Las Vegas Field Office, 4765 W. Vegas Drive, at the southeast corner of Vegas Drive and Decatur Boulevard.
Those donating at the Las Vegas Field Office will receive a one-day use pass to Red Rock Canyon.
The FISH Pantry needs nonperishable food such as peanut butter, jelly, crackers, canned vegetables, bottled water, juices, salt, pepper, sugar, mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, etc. Monetary donations are also accepted.
For more information, call Anna Wharton at 647-5095 or Kate Sorom at 647-5073.
