Several performances planned at CCSN
The Society for the Preservation of Arts, Culture and Environments and the Community College of Southern Nevada Performing Arts Center, will host a Christmas festival on several days throughout the month at the CCSN Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Dec. 15, 16, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. Dec. 17 and 24. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. For reservations, call 651-5483.
Event to benefit Opportunity Village
The PIA of Southern Nevada, a nonprofit organization of insurance professionals, is hosting a Christmas skating party to benefit the clients of Opportunity Village 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the Las Vegas Ice Gardens, 3896 S. Swenson St.
In addition to the skating party, an all day food drive is planned to benefit the pantries of the Shade Tree shelter, Aid for AIDS of Nevada and the Salvation Army. For more information or to donate an item to raffle, call Jen at 493-8383.
Dragons come to life in forum series
"Dragons: History, Mythology, Reality" will be the topic of the final fall University Forum lecture at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium of the Marjorie Barrick Museum of National History at UNLV.
Brad Eden, who oversees the cataloging section of UNLV's James R. Dickinson Library, has spent years building an extensive collection of books and art about dragons. During his lecture, Eden will share part of his collection with the audience and discuss both the Eastern and Western mythology and history of dragons.
In addition, Eden will read short excerpts from different literary works in which dragons are featured characters and will play some audio versions of dragon stories.

Immunizations
Health district immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. These clinics will be open from Wednesday through Dec. 19:

HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EOB NORTH LAS VEGAS WIC: 5A E. Tonopah Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
GREEN VALLEY CLINIC: Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3:30 p.m. Friday.
FAMILY TO FAMILY CLINIC: 2125-C E. Lake Mead Blvd. (College Park Plaza), 12:30-3:30 p.m. Friday.
CHEYENNE I-3 CLINIC: Centers for Healthy Families, 3266 Las Vegas Blvd. North, No. 12, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
