Walking Box still unsold

Monday, Dec. 11, 2000 | 11:43 a.m.

Talks between the Canadian owner of the historic Walking Box ranch near Searchlight and a longtime Las Vegas structural engineer and real estate investor have ended without the sale of the ranch house and its 38.5 acres.

Las Vegas real estate executive David Boyer, representing Viceroy Gold Corp., a British Columbia-based mining company, said his client could not close the deal with George Brizendine to purchase the property once owned by movie stars Rex Bell and Clara Bow.

Brizendine submitted a winning bid of $650,000 at a recent auction, but that was not enough to meet the minimum, and the two parties tried to reach an agreement. Boyer said Viceroy declined an offer that included part cash and part property.

Boyer said negotiations are being conducted with a runner-up bidder and that escrow could close as early as this week if an agreement is reached.
