Stop and shop
And you thought the only things worth buying at 7-Eleven stores were Slurpees and gasoline.
How's this for convenience, ladies?: The company recently unveiled several products packaged for women on the go. Heaven Sent is its exclusive line of pantyhose sold in vacuum-packed, four-inch containers. Available in four sizes and two shades -- coffee and nude -- the ultra-sheer hose sell for $2.99 a pair.
Forget your eye shadow or lipstick? Not a problem. Heart & Soul cosmetics are sold in 7-Eleven's new "teen section." The "maxi-compacts" hold 10 shades of shadow or lip color, while the "mini-compacts" carry three. Ranging in price from $2.59-$5.99, both come with an applicator and a mirror.
Also new at the stores: nail polish, scented soaps, body jewelry, beaded bracelets and sunglasses.
The gift that keeps giving
Here's a sobering statistic: Every three seconds, someone is diagnosed with cancer in the United States.
That's why this holiday season, the City of Hope National Medical Center would like you to remember that it's better to give than receive -- and act upon it.
By visiting the website clickforhope.com, online shoppers can click on a link to one of several retail sponsors that will make a donation to City of Hope, which works to fund research and treatment programs for cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and other diseases.
Web shoppers can also support the charity by making purchases via the Shop for Hope program (also on the website), which partners six online shopping malls featuring merchants who donate a percentage of their profits to City of Hope.
Arm dressing
On a lighter note, the folks at Blockbuster thought it would be a hoot to ask ... well, movie renters we suppose, this question: "If you were going to attend a Christmas party with a famous actor/actress, which one would you most like to be seen with?"
The responses weren't too terribly surprising. There was a three-way tie for first place among the male celebs -- Harrison Ford, Mel Gisbon and George Clooney. It was a four-way tie for second place: Tom Cruise, Denzel Washinton, Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt.
Julia Roberts came in first among the female stars, followed by Sandra Bullock, who finished second ,and Halle Berry in third. Another three-way tie for fourth place: Goldie Hawn, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman.
Sorry, people, but we're willing to bet that all of these Hollywood types have much better things to do than watch you drink too much spiked eggnog and make an idiot of yourself in front of your co-workers.
