A Smyrna, Ga., man sued Scott Smith, a former stagecoach driver with Binion's Horseshoe hotel-casino, alleging he was injured when Smith's alleged reckless driving caused a stagecoach to roll over at a National Finals Rodeo opening day ceremony on Dec. 10, 1998.
The defendants also include Horseshoe Club Operating Co., Binion's Horseshoe hotel-casino, Senior National Finals Rodeo Association Inc. doing business as National Finals Rodeo, Las Vegas Events Inc., Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Professional Rodeo Stock Contractors Association Inc. doing business as Stock Contractors Association.
In a Clark County District Court suit, Jack Lowry, who said he was to be honored for his efforts on behalf of the NFR at the ceremony, said he was riding with three other dignitaries into an arena in a stagecoach, when Smith, in an "apparent attempt to add to the show, operated the stagecoach in a wild, fast, erratic and dangerous manner, causing (it) to roll over and land on its side."
The defendants could not be reached for comment on the allegations.
