Robert Donald Ankney
Robert Donald Ankney, 72, of Las Vegas died Nov. 30 in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Lansing, Mich. A resident for 20 years, he was a house painter and a Navy veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Micheal R. Rampley and Rick M. Rampley, and one daughter, Lee-Anna M. Rampley, all of California; two brothers, Glenn Ankney and Harley Ankney, both of Michigan; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were scheduled at 9 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 16, Henderson, handled arrangements.
The Rev. Pattie M. Butts
The Rev. Pattie M. Butts, 63, of Jal, N.M., died Tuesday. She was born in Las Vegas. A former resident, she was a pastor for the First United Methodist Church in New Mexico.
She is survived by one son, Donald D. Butts of Stafford, Va.; two daughters, Joni L. DiPatri and Jaynie Brookshire, both of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Bonnie Krause of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit, Texas, is handling arrangements.
James Christian
James Christian, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Texas. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired from the Air Force.
He is survived by his companion, Dorothy Johnson of Las Vegas; two brothers, J.D. Christian and Lloyd Peery, both of Texas; and one sister, Saundra Waghey of California.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Dec. 18 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 16, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Carol Joan Emery
Carol Joan Emery, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Cincinnati. A resident for 35 years, she was a director of personnel for the Clark County Health District.
She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Brooke of Port Orchard, Wash., Debra Burrus of Granite Falls, Wash., Suzanne Conant of Everett, Wash., and Linda Hall of Fairfield, Calif.; and two stepsons, Shane Watson of Everett and Clayton Watson of Arlington, Wash.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
The family suggests donations to the Las Vegas Parkinson Support Group, 8504 Hearst Court, Las Vegas, NV 89117.
Joseph Pierre Gagne
Joseph Pierre Gagne, 74, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1926, in South Grafton, Mass. A resident for six years, he was a retired manager of a medical facility and a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; three sons, Stephen Gagne of Millbury, Mass., John Gagne of Sutton, Mass., and Thomas Gagne of Greenfield, N.H.; three sisters, Florence LaVallee of Sutton, Blanche Zukowski of Worcester, Mass., and Evelyn Newton of Amherst, Mass.; his ex-wife, Helena of Worcester; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Martha F. Gorman
Martha F. Gorman, 91, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Camak, Ga. A resident for 70 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Robert L. Paul of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to charities that benefit veterans.
Chester E. Huff
Chester E. Huff, 62, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. He was born June 24, 1938, in Pecos, Texas. A resident for more than 29 years, he was a retired engineer for the Nevada Department of Transportation and a veteran of the Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E.; one daughter, Tammy Halvorsen of Angola, N.Y.; one son, Alan J. Huff of North Las Vegas; his mother, Martha M. Huff of Las Vegas; two brothers, Walter Huff of Reno and Edward Huff of Sparks; three sisters, Mary Johnson of Oakdale, Calif., Dorothy Ward of El Monte, Calif., and Linda Zastrow of Sparks; and three granddaughters.
Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary's chapel, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial followed in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Johnie Lee
Johnie Lee, 58, of Las Vegas died Nov. 28 in a California veterans hospital. He was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Jackson, Miss. A resident for many years, he was a retired Air Force master sergeant.
He is survived by his wife, Eliza M.; two stepdaughters, Jessie Marie Landers of Oakland, Calif., and Dorothy Ann Stouff of Sacramento; two brothers, Roosevelt Murphy Jr. of Canton, Miss., and Robert L. Fains of Jackson; six sisters, Mary L. Murphy and Mildred Smith, both of Los Angeles, Susie M. Clark of Rialto, Calif., Ruby L. Wilson of Chicago and Annie J. Fains and Lonnie Weisley, both of Jackson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Portals to Glory Church of God in Christ, 2301 Comstock Drive. Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Jose Nicolas 'Nick' Lopez
Jose Nicolas "Nick" Lopez, 48, of Henderson died Tuesday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Colusa, Calif. A resident for 48 years, he was a jet engine repairman and a Gulf War Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha H.; one daughter, Angela Milner, and one son, Anthony John Lopez, both of Henderson; and one grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in the LDS Desert Rose chapel, Desert Rose Drive and Pacific Avenue, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.
The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Kathryn P. McGinnis
Kathryn P. McGinnis, 78, of Duncan, Okla., died Monday in Duncan. She was born May 7, 1922, in East St. Louis, Ill. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a retired beautician.
She is survived by one son, Michael C. McGinnis, M.D., of Lawton, Okla.; one brother, Joe Rosandich of St. Louis; one sister, Mary Heidger of Houston; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 9-10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
Thomas Vincent Owen Sr.
Thomas Vincent Owen Sr., 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born June 5, 1921, in New York City. A resident for 22 years, he was an airline reservation manager, a World War II and Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Scal Travel Club.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; one son, Thomas Vincent Owen Jr. of Las Vegas; and two stepsons, Bruce Merzario of Milpitas, Calif., and Lou Merzario of Marina Del Rey, Calif.
Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Rita P. Rose
Rita P. Rose, 77, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 1, 1923, in New York. A resident for five years, she was a teacher.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Madvig of Chatsworth, Calif.
