Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000 | 11:43 a.m.
Dean Kennedy fired a 9-under par 63 to take the first-round lead at the $60,000 Nevada Open at the Oasis Golf Club in Mesquite Wednesday. Jeb Stuart and Chris Kamin were just one shot back at 64.
With the weather cooperating, there were 46 sub-par rounds and 65 rounds of par or better.
Second-action continued today at the Casa Blanca Golf Club in Mesquite. A new champion is guaranteed as defending titlist Bob May withdrew from the tournament earlier this week.
