Baker named CEO at slot maker

Thomas Baker was named chief executive officer of Reno-based slot machine maker International Game Technology on Wednesday, succeeding long-time CEO Charles Mathewson.
Baker currently serves as IGT's president, chief operating officer and interim chief financial officer. Baker will retain the president and COO positions; the company is continuing a search for a new CFO following the November resignation of Maureen Mullarkey.
Mathewson will remain IGT's chairman.
"It's more of a promotion for Tom than anything for Chuck," said Ed Rogich, IGT's vice president of marketing. "I think it's in recognition of Tom's success that he takes on the formal title of CEO. It doesn't change Chuck's involvement, and day-to-day operations have always been in Tom's court."
