Letter: Poppy will pull W.’s strings
Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 | 10:02 a.m.
"Poppy," as he was known to his fraternity brothers in his secret society at Yale, cannot stand the fact that he lost his re-election to a poor boy raised in a small town in Arkansas.
His ego was hurt and he is seeking his revenge on the country that did not re-elect him. He is doing this by foisting his magically competent son on the nation in the guise of a presidential candidate.
Poppy's goal since he lost the election was to seek revenge on those who did him in. His attitude has been demonstrated over the past eight years by his comments about Bill Clinton, both personally and as a president. Ann Richards was right when she referred to him as "Poor George." His anger showed through at the recent celebration for the 200th anniversary of the White House. He was rude and snubbed the Clintons.
He has now taken over the control of the transition of George W. by inserting his old cronies as the planners of the next administration. Let there be no doubt as to who will run the country and make all the decisions. It will not be an incompetent George W., but Poppy.
