Metro Police detectives have not been able to identify the skeletal remains found in the desert last week.
However, detectives deduced the remains belong to a man about 45 years old, and the remains have been in desert for about two to five years, Lt. Wayne Petersen of the homicide unit said.
The bones were discovered Friday by a survey crew in a desert area near U.S. 93 about 10 miles north of the Apex exit from Interstate 15. The bones appeared to have been scattered by animals or water runoff.
Authorities have not been able to determine the cause of death. The investigation is continuing, Petersen said.
