Seniors can enter Lucent program
Applications are available for the 2000-2001 Lucent Global Science Scholars Program, an international competition to identify and help future leaders in communications technology.

Applications must be postmarked by Jan. 20. One hundred finalists will be announced on March 5, and 50 winners of $5,000 scholarships announced April 23.
To find out more contact the NAE at (732) 747-0028 or visit its website (excellence.org). The application may be downloaded from the website.
Teacher, student receive Hero honors
Casey Harney, a math teacher at Roy Martin Middle School, has received the regional Isuzu After School Hero of the Year Award from Courtesy Isuzu.
Harney was selected based on his work on the after-school program Future City, which allows seventh and eighth grade students to use computers to build and plan their own cities.
Seventh grader Yolanda Ordway also was recognized by Isuzu for writing the nomination for Harney.
Harney, along with more than 20 other regional finalists from throughout the United States, will receive a cash grant from the Entertainment Industry Foundation as well as a Gateway computer.
In December a national After School Hero of the Year will be named, with the winner receiving a cash grant and a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo Sport.
