The Las Vegas Wolves of the Independent Football League completed their season Saturday in Bakersfield, Calif., by defeating the Bakersfield Panthers 18-14 for the league championship.
"It was a great game," said Edwin Rose, who doubles as a linebacker and the Wolves' general manager. "We only had 25 players and they had 65, but we took it to 'em."
Former UNLV quarterback Steve Pak contributed a touchdown, as did wide receiver Al Tate. Running backs David Rider and Eric Ruffin allowed the Wolves, who finished their season with a record of 10-5, to control the ball through most of the championship game.
