Jan. 21: IRS Confiscates Stardust Records
Story: The casino credit records of the Stardust Hotel, dozens of file boxes of them, were seized at 4 p.m. yesterday by the Internal Revenue Service.
The seizure came after executives of Karat Inc., the former casino licensee, were served with a search warrant signed here yesterday by U.S. Commissioner William G. Ruyman.
March 30: Death for Manson Family
Story: Death in the gas chamber was decreed for Charles Manson and all three of his women followers yesterday for the savage, mindless slaughter of Sharon Tate and six other persons in August 1969.
Manson was led from the courtroom shouting at the judge and the jury before the verdicts were even read.
April 26: Clark County to be in Control of Legislature
Story: The Nevada Legislature gave final approval to a reapportionment plan yesterday that switches political control from the "cow counties" and Reno to the gambling center of Las Vegas.
June 14: Sinatra: Farewell to Show Biz
Story: A career that began in the early 1940s with bobbysoxers shrieking in New York's Paramount Theater came to a close last night with the superstars of show business giving the accolade.
It is his last performance. So says Frank Sinatra.
Aug. 16: Tax Cut, Devaluation of Dollar Included in Sweeping Program
Story: President Nixon imposed a 90-day freeze Sunday night on all wages, prices and rents and asked Congress to cut taxes by $6.3 billion this year and acted to permit devaluation of the dollar in some international trade.
Nov. 16: 20,000 Programmed for LV
Story: The Las Vegas Convention Center swelled with activity yesterday as the exhibits for the 1971 Fall Joint Computer Conference -- which will attract between 18,000 and 20,000 visitors to Las Vegas -- were given the finishing touches preparatory to the conference's opening today.
