Letter: Paranoid vote will not make gays disappear
Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 | 10:57 a.m.
This kind of self-centered, nonthinking paranoia was played out in World War II when we sent American-Asians into POW camps in the good old U.S. of A. because we just knew that those would-be spies might just be the edge the "other side" needed to collapse our safe little American world. So we tucked them away and voila! Out of sight and out of mind.
Well, I'm not going away, and neither are my gay brothers and sisters. We will continue to love and have families as we have always done. But one thought, and be fair. What if your spouse of 20 years was dying and the medical staff informed you that by law you could not hold their hand as they took their last dying breath?
Tell me, how would that make you feel?
