Two Reno brother arrested in attempted armed robbery; one hurt
Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000 | 9:35 a.m.
Nicholas Taylor, 20, and his 18-year-old brother Keith Taylor were arrested after a short car and foot chase, the Washoe County sheriff's office said.
The younger Taylor fell and was injured during the chase. He was transported to the Washoe Medical Center where he is being treated Wednesday for a collapsed lung and a broken left hand.
Nicholas Taylor allegedly entered the Riverbelle Market in Verdi about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday. After purchasing a drink, he allegedly pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money, deputies said.
The clerk refused, so Taylor left the store and got into a white car driven by his younger brother.
Sheriff's detectives were in the area and spotted the car traveling east on Fourth Street. A tire blew out on the car during the chase and the two tried to flee on foot.
The older brother was booked into the Washoe County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Authorities said both would be charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, eluding a peace officer and resisting arrest.
