FTC gets LV MAGIC complaint

Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000 | 11:16 a.m.

A participant of this week's Men's Apparel Guild In California's (MAGIC) trade show in Las Vegas filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, alleging it engaged in anti-competitive practices.

MAGIC is hosting a show through today at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) and the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

BtoBapparel.com, which creates internet showrooms for apparel wholesalers to exhibit their products, alleged its booth was unfavorably located at the Sands Expo Center, which BtoBapparel.com said has little foot traffic, while Magic's online apparel website, magiconline.com, was prominently displayed at the LVCC, which it said receives more than 90 percent of the show's foot traffic.

MAGIC officials declined comment.
