These are the most beautiful wildlife areas close to Las Vegas and I would like to thank the employees of the Nevada Department of Wildlife and the national refuges for their outstanding work. When "Sagebrush Rebellion" advocates argue that control of federal lands should be handed over to the states (more radical members of the contingent argue that the lands should be turned over to the counties, not to state government), they conveniently neglect to mention that there is a huge cost to administer these lands. The monetary costs escalate exponentially when natural or man-made disasters, such as fires, are added into the equation.

Recently Nevada has ranked near the bottom in voter turnout, so it's long overdue to reverse this embarrassing trend. Besides, so many of us made the time to watch the two-hour "Survivor" finale, the least we can do is take the half hour or so necessary to vote in the primary elections.
