Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 | 11:16 a.m.
Although Southern Nevada's 20 4A high schools won't kick off their football season until next Friday, a pair of local squads will get the 2000 prep campaign started tonight, with 2A clubs The Meadows and Faith Lutheran in action.
The Mustangs, winners of four of the last five 2A titles, will begin their quest for a fourth straight state crown tonight at 7 against visiting 3A squad Pahrump Valley.
The Crusaders, who went 3-5 in 1999 under first-year head coach Pete Renn, will open their season with a 7 p.m. home game against 3A school Mineral County from Hawthorne.
