Letter: Charge kids with their crimes
Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 | 10:04 a.m.
There was an article in the newspaper about three 6-year-old cousins playing in their backyard in Blythe, Calif. Two of them were girls and the other one was a boy cousin.
Somehow the two girls got ahold of a pillow and suffocated their cousin. The father of the dead boy came back and discovered his body. Riverside County's district attorney said the two young girls will not be charged with the crime because they are too young.
But I feel that there are a lot of tots who know the difference between right and wrong. They know when they are committing a crime. In my opinion, teenagers and young people should be charged as an adult for murder. They should be sent to prison.
Some young people kill because they enjoy killing and they feel they can get by with it. Lots of them keep doing their crimes over and over again.
