Former Nevada Power Services exec to lead new enterprise
Friday, Aug. 25, 2000 | 3:55 a.m.
The former president of the company Nevada Power planned to use to offer retail electrical service in the era of deregulation now heads a new utility enterprise.
Steven Boss, former head of Nevada Power Services, has been named president of Nevada Energy Buyers Network, a company that will serve small commercial customers.
NEBN, based at 8685 W. Sahara Ave., will form groups of commercial customers and negotiate directly with wholesale power sellers for better utility rates -- a process known as aggregation.
NEBN initially will compete with Nevada Power, but the utility plans to end its retail operation as competition takes hold and become strictly a power transmission company.
The company, which will have four employees by the end of August and will add staff as the company's network and services grow, plans to educate customers on electric industry choices when deregulation begins as well as serve as advocates for small commercial operations.
