Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000 | 10:41 a.m.
Las Vegas' XFL franchise finally has an identity.
The team's name -- the Outlaws -- logo and colors were revealed today, along with the names of the other seven teams in the upstart outdoor football league.
The other teams will be the Chicago Enforcers, New York-New Jersey Hitmen, San Jose Demons, LA Xtreme, Birmingham ThunderBolts, Memphis Maniax and Orlando Rage.
The XFL, a joint venture of WWF Entertainment and NBC-TV, will begin play Feb. 3, with a 10-game regular season. Las Vegas will play its five home games at Sam Boyd Stadium.
The Outlaws will play in the Western Conference along with Chicago, San Jose and Los Angeles. They have hired Jim Criner as head coach, Bob Ackles as general manager and Don Gibson as player personnel director.
Tickets will go on sale in October, but priority reservations are being accepted at (877) XFL-GAME and on the league website XFL.com.
