CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court has upheld the first-degree murder conviction of Sebastian S. Bridges, who was sentenced to death for the fatal shooting of Hunter Blatchford in October 1997.
The court unanimously rejected arguments by Bridges' lawyer that the prosecutor made improper remarks at the trial, that there was insufficient evidence for a conviction and that the jury had not been properly instructed.
The court ruled there was enough evidence to justify the murder and kidnapping convictions.
Bridges' wife, Laurie, left him in California and moved to Las Vegas, where she was involved in a relationship with Blatchford. Bridges tried for a reconciliation but failed. He then enticed them into a car and drove to a deserted area where he shot Blatchford and later buried his body.
In other cases decided Wednesday, the Supreme Court:
Collman said the boy fell down the stairs.
