Las Vegas fire officials are still investigating the cause of an early morning blaze Thursday on the city's west side near U.S. 95.
The fire caused an estimated $30,000 dollars worth of damage, said Tim Szymanski, department spokesman.
Firefighters were able to hold the fire to a front bedroom in the one-story, wood-frame home. The blaze destroyed the bedroom and caused heat and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house, Szymanski said.
The fire started in the bedroom of a young boy who said he awoke to the smell of smoke and to find the curtains on fire next to his bed.
No one was injured, Szymanski said. Four adults and three children live in the home that did not have smoke alarms.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.
