Two Nevadans have received national recognition for their work.
John G. Watson, an air quality scientist with Desert Research Institute, received the Frank A. Chambers Award from the Air & Waste Management Association for his outstanding achievement in air pollution control.
Watson led the development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's original air quality compliance model that was first applied to conditions in Reno and Las Vegas. He directs the Southern Nevada Air Quality Study.
Vicki Taylor, Henderson's public relations specialist and assistant to City Manager Phil Speight, has earned accreditation from the International Association of Business Communicators.
The designation makes her one of only 61 professionals worldwide to be accredited by both the international association and the Public Relations Society of America.
