An Asian tourist is $8.7 million richer after hitting Megabucks at the Las Vegas Hilton hotel-casino early Wednesday.
The man who wished to remain anonymous walked away with a check for a quarter (m) million dollars, the first of 25 annual installments, said Connie Fox, spokeswoman for IGT MegaJackpots.
No other information about the winner was available, Fox said.
The jackpot was Nevada's sixth Megabucks strike this year. It was the fifth since the world record $35 million jackpot hit at the Desert Inn resort in January.
The winner only played for a few minutes when the trio of Megabucks logos lined up, said Pat Patterson, director of slot operations for the Hilton.
"It's always a thrill when a player walks away a millionaire," Patterson said.
It is the third time in the past decade that Megabucks hit at the Las Vegas Hilton.
Nevada Megabucks has produced 54 major winners in its 13-year history.
