LV contractor sued by Teamsters

The Teamsters are taking legal action to force Southern Nevada Paving Inc. to adhere to a joint arbitration board's decision to reinstate two fired union workers.
In a U.S. District Court lawsuit, Teamsters Local 631 sued the contractor, alleging it violated the arbitration board's June 21 decision when it refused to reinstate Terry Stewart with full back pay less any unemployment benefits he received and Jacy L. Comstock, whom the board found were improperly discharged.
Contrary to the contractor's claims that they were fired for "poor work performance," Richard Anthony, the board's chairman, said both workers were discharged because they tried to get the company to "abide by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as to their hours of employment and working conditions."
Southern Nevada Paving could not be reached for comment.
