The 17 cameras that will be in place a week from Monday will blanket the school and the parking lot.
Vice Principal Tom Morgan said research indicates that students learn better if they feel safe.
He said that when pupils know they're being filmed, it will change their behavior, especially when fights are looming.
Officials concede it's not the answer to everything, but say that if there's a problem, at least it will be on tape.
They said no specific problem brought on the installation but they felt it was just part of enhancing scrutiny.
