Letter: Hospital needed desperately in northeast LV
Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000 | 9:51 a.m.
Please do not blame our medical problems on people playing tennis in the heat. That is a ridiculous explanation for our health problems.
Congratulations to MountainView upon opening a new wing that will have 72 new beds. It's great that St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson opened a new site, the Sienna Campus, which will add 28 emergency room beds to the hospital's existing 21 beds. However, these plans do not help us who reside in the northeast.
It would be beneficial to the candidates running for political office to make an effort to ensure that we have a hospital, children's hospital and professional office building to accommodate the citizens of our area. We are in serious need of these facilities.
There is a large area of ground opposite Las Vegas High School which is now zoned for new homes. This land would be ideal for our health needs instead of all of the new housing.
Would our devoted Mayor Oscar Goodman, City Council and County Commission give serious consideration to this extremely important matter?
