Desert Springs protests end with agreement

Weeks of Carpenters union protests in front of Desert Springs Hospital have ended with the general contractor agreeing not to use certain subcontractors for future projects.
Two booths with signs declaring "Labor dispute: Shame on Desert Springs Hospital" that the union set up in front of the hospital in June have been removed.
The general contractor is CW Driver, which is building the hospital's $20 million expansion.
In June, union officials said several subcontractors on the project didn't provide health insurance to employees. CW Driver officials, however, said at the time all the subcontractors on the project offered insurance to their employees.
