Deadlines lifted for student firefighters

Interim Chancellor Jane Nichols said registration, financial aid and other deadlines will be extended for firefighters who are students in the university and community college system.

Deadlines will be extended until Sept. 18, after fall semester classes begin.

The university system also is asking each institution's administration and faculty members to help the students adjust to the late start.

To qualify for the extended deadlines, students or their parents must contact their university or community college by Aug. 30. Verification of fire crew employment must be presented at any late registration.
