Construction group honors two students
The Las Vegas Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction awarded four-year scholarships to Benjamin Ritchie, a 2000 graduate of Basic High School, and to Rachel Ritchie, a 1999 graduate of Basic, for the coming fall semester.
The group is a networking and educational organization for women in the construction industry. It awards scholarships to students of those employed in the construction industry in Clark County.
Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 grade point average. A bonus is given for each semester a student exceeds a 3.5 grade point average.
UNLV music student awarded
UNLV student Joel Buford accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for his outstanding academic accomplishments.
Buford is a music education major who graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts with an honors diploma and a 4.45 GPA.
Immunizations
Health district immunization clinics are open each week in and around Las Vegas. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Aug. 23 through Aug. 29:
DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER: 625 Shadow Lane, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
HENDERSON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 129 W. Lake Mead Drive, Building A, Suite 10, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS FAMILY HEALTH CENTER: 2225 Civic Center Drive, Suite 240C, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
EAST LAS VEGAS WIC OFFICE: 5701 Missouri Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
DESERT BREEZE CLINIC: 8275 Spring Mountain Road, noon-4 p.m. Friday.
GALLERIA MALL: 1300 Sunset Road (lower Penneys court), Henderson, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday.
MATT KELLY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: 1900 J St., 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.
LIT'L SCHOLAR: 3233 E. Desert Inn Road, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday.
COUNCILMAN LAWRENCE WEEKLY'S BACK TO SCHOOL HEALTH FAIR: Lorenzi Park, Sammy Davis Jr. Pavilion, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
