Firefighters ready for annual telethon
The 39th annual Southern Nevada Fill-the-Boot campaign, in which firefighters collect donations on more than 75 street corners for the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy, will be held Aug. 31-Sept. 2 for Henderson, Clark County and North Las Vegas firefighters, and Aug. 28-Sept.2 for Las Vegas firefighters.

Fair to be held at Cahlan school
A North Las Vegas back-to-school fair will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Marion Cahlan Elementary School, 2801 Fort Sumter Drive.
Groups featured will include the Clark County Health District for immunization (bring child's latest shot records); Clark County Election Department for voter registration; and New Hope Ministries for free back-to-school supplies and other activities.
Cashman Center event this weekend
The Harvest Festival Craft Show will be held noon-8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The show will feature hand-crafted goods and family entertainment. General admission is $6 for all three days. A $1 discount is available with coupon or one can of donated food to benefit Safe Nest.
