Begay, who won the inaugural tournament last year, finished eighth Sunday at the PGA Championship to clinch a spot on the Presidents Cup team and a place in this week's World Golf Championships.
But there will other PGA Tour players vying for a win at the Montreux Golf & Country Club.
Bob May, who lost the PGA Championship in a playoff duel with Tiger Woods, is among the field of competitors at the Reno-Tahoe Open this week.
Woods beat May to win the 82nd PGA Championship, his third straight victory in a major tournament.
But May's gutty showing is sure to mean a brighter spotlight on the 32-year-old Las Vegan when he tees off here.
Competition in the $6 million event begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.
